(June 6, 2005) -- The
Farnbacher Loles and Autometrics racing teams are joining forces for
this weekend's Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen, NY.
Farnbacher Loles driver Wolf Henzler will be teaming up with Autometrics
Motorsports' drivers Cory Friedman and Leh Keen driving the Keen Cap
Porsche. The 6-hour endurance race on the legendary Glen road course
marks Farnbacher Loles driver Wolf Henzler's return to the Grand
American Rolex series. Henzler started the year by winning the GT Class
at the 2005 Rolex 24 at Daytona driving the Farnbacher Loles Porsche GT3
Cup with co-drivers Dominik Farnbacher, Shawn Price and Pierre Ehret.
Since then, Henzler has been competing in road racing, winning a recent
race at Mid-Ohio where he went flag to flag.
Leh Keen, a young and very talented Porsche Club racer from Dublin, GA
also raced at the Daytona 24-hour race in 2005, coming in 6th in class
with co-driver Friedman. The 2 drivers currently stand 4th in team
points and 6th in drivers points in the Rolex series. Keen at 6'5"
reminds many Porsche followers of the legendary racer Hans Stuck.
Twenty-one year old Keen is the Director of Communications for GSC
Motorsports. Said Leh, "Having had the opportunity to spend some
time with Wolf, I think we will be very competitive in the race. Cory
and I are fortunate to have him as teammate."
Twenty-seven year old Cory Friedman, has been racing since 1995 and has
competed in a variety of racing disciplines including motocross and
Grand Am Cup. In 2003, Friedman finished an impressive 3rd at Watkins
Glen in a Grand American race and he is feeling very comfortable with
this year's effort." Leh and I have been having a good season so
far this year. Certainly having Wolf as our co-driver is going to be a
great asset to the team. We are looking forward to a great finish."
As the V. P. of Autometrics Motorsports, Cory lives in Charleston. Cory
has an engineering degree from Clemson in Motorsports Engineering and
brings that unique perspective to his racing efforts.
Autometrics Motorsports Team Manager Gordon Friedman feels the joint
effort is a win-win for both teams. "We are glad to be working with
Farnbacher Loles. Wolf brings a great deal of talent and experience to
the team and Horst Farnbacher has been working with our technicians in
planning the set-up for the race. We have an excellent team in place and
this should be a very strong effort."
Farnbacher Loles team principal Gregory Loles also likes the team's
chances. "Since the Daytona win, we have been looking for an
opportunity to get back into the Grand American Rolex series. With our
club racers and semi-pro racing clients, Grand Am is a very attractive
step up. This is an extremely competitive series and it makes sense for
us to be racing here. We are pleased to be working with Autometrics
Motorsports to field this effort. For us, getting back into the Rolex
series is important and Autometrics Motorsports is a first-class
operation to do it with. We have set a standard for our racing efforts
to be at the highest level for both ourselves and our clients and we
will continue to provide that level of service."
Autometrics is based in Charleston, SC while Farnbacher Loles is based
in Danbury, CT. The Six Hour car will be sponsored by Keen Cap, a
Charleston firm that provides investment capital for private business.
