944 "Charley Arms" -- Manufactured by Wrightwood Racing,
fabricators of the famous 911 “Charley-Bars” sway
bars. |
|
Application: 944,
951, 951S, 968
-1985/2
and later.
Absolutely the strongest and best quality available. Built from a fifty pound billet of
aerospace 7075T7 aluminum. It’s
then shaped on a CNC milling machine and finally hard anodized to a sleek satin finish. |
Features a
replaceable spherical bearing ball joint with an enlarged 19mm ball joint pin made of a special aerospace alloy that has been
mag-inspected and shot peened offering exceptional strength and durability. (Original spindle ball joint pin
bore needs to be enlarged from 17 to 19mm!)
Also
features a replaceable spherical bearing for the sub-frame mount with machined
spacers for an exact fit and razor sharp performance.
|
Optional:
Caster blocks made of 7075T6 aluminum with
replaceable spherical bearings for added strength and performance. |

| We
did some research to estimate how strong these arms actually are. Using
a finite element analysis, we determined that even under extreme racing
conditions, these arms will never fatigue and deflect less than 1mm!
According to our analysis, a collision of over 50g is required to cause
failure. The image on the left shows the arm as modeled in the simulation;
the image on the right shows stress-mapping and maximum stress (in MPa) under
3000lbs of braking load. |
