Cory

Charleston,
SC
Autometrics
Motorsports Team Driver
Cory's sportscar racing career began with PCA Club Racing in 1996.
He achieved his first overall win in 1997 in his 944 turbo. By
1999, Cory had accumulated a very respectable record of class wins and
podium finishes in his turbo, when he and Autometrics Motorsports
decided to begin development of a 993. The 993, which began as a
road car, made its debut in Supercup form. Cory won his class
convincingly.
Cory and the Autometrics Motorsports 993 RSR made the jump to
professional racing, running select Speedvision World Challenge races in
2000. Cory made his first Grand-Am and Daytona 24 hour attempt in
2001. An incredible qualifying performance placed the car 75th on
the grid, and by the end of the race, Cory and the other drivers had the
car in 23rd overall. Cory ran 4 other Grand-Am races in 2001.
The 2002 Season marked a change for Cory. For the first time in
his career, he drove a car other than a Porsche. Piloting an
E36 M3 with Marcus Motorsports, Friedman earned his first Grand Am GT
Podium finish in the #9 BMW. Also a first in 2002, Cory and
Autometrics jumped to the next level in Professional Sportscar racing by
running the RFK event in the American LeMans Series. Despite the
strong competition, Cory lead the team to a 21st overall finish and 8th
in class in the Front Porch Racing Porsche GT3R.
The Daytona 24 hour race started Cory's 2003 season off well, with a
13th overall finish (6th in class) in the Marcus Motorsports M3.
For the 2003 season, Cory ran PCA events, as he always
has, and also piloted Autometrics' newly acquired 2000 GT3 Supercup.
Cory
ran the Cup in the Grand Am finale in next season's SGS prep as a
warm-up to the Rolex 24 in January. This test proved we could be
competitive, and at the 24, Cory qualified the car 5th in the new SGS
class. We ran a few more Grand Am races in SGS with increasingly
good qualifying results. The last two races we did were VIR and
Barber. Cory ran with Leh Keen and finished on the podium in both.
The
'05 Rolex Series was by far the most competitive in Grand Am's
history. Even with only 2 classes, the number of total entrants
was well higher than it had ever been. Cory and Leh ran the entire
2005 Grand Am GT Calendar in a new KeenCap/Autometrics Motorsports
Porsche GT3 Cup, again #14. We finished 3rd in Team points with
five top-5 finishes and a race win. Friedman was 5th in the
Driver's championship out of over 200 drivers.
