Removing the Airbag Steering Wheel on a 944 Without Triggering the SRS Light

Normally, after removing the airbag steering wheel from the car and replacing it with a non-airbag steering wheel, the SRS (airbag) light will stay on and the airbag system will disable itself.  Also, the large red central warning light (exclamation point) will also be triggered.

The problem with the lights can easily be remedied by clipping a single wire.  Behind the glove box is an orange box, this is the control unit for the airbag system.  Follow the harness from this box to round multi-pin connector.  There you will find a black wire with a yellow tracer.  If this wire is cut, then tied back and insulated, the instrument cluster  will not get a signal from the airbag, and thus will not trigger either of the lights.

Note: the system will remain disabled...  NO warning lights will indicate this.  The passenger airbag will not function if the driver's side airbag is removed.
