2014 Porsche 991 GT3 Cup
This 2014 model 991 Cup is an affordable way into PCA’s competitive C6 or Trophy East classes. In this case, affordable does not indicate compromised performance, as this car holds PCA track records at Road Atlanta, Road America and VIR. This 991 is available for immediate inspection and sale at our Charleston, SC facility for SOLD.
Updates critical to performance and reliability have been made. The fuel system is the latest spec and the Cosworth data system has the brake pressure and steering upgrades. The paddle shift system was recently refreshed by Shiftec.
Total time on the car and engine clocks in at 72 hours. There was some superficial damage from the previous owner, but the repair was acceptable.

The Bar Was Raised Again in 2017
2016 was a record-breaking season for us in a number of ways, and our momentum carried into the 2017 season. The goal for every year is to surpass the previous. We worked toward and expected to see improvement in a few areas, but when we left Daytona in October, we could not have been more proud of the season’s accomplishments. By nearly every metric of performance, the numbers for 2017 were more positive than in 2016.
Our 2017 PCA calendar included 11 events, and our drivers collected a staggering 55 class wins (up from 46 in 2016). The P1’s drove our podium total up by 14 to 122. Our top trophy collector was Charlie Craig with 20, followed by fellow Clubsport East competitor David Baum (16), and Jimmy Martin with 15. 12 of Jimmy’s 15 were wins, the most of any of our drivers.
Jimmy crushed track records at nearly every circuit last season, leading our 10 new records set in 2016. This was the number we anticipated being untouchable, as Jimmy was competing with his own impressive laps. In the end, Jimmy only bested one of his records, but 6 other drivers stepped up to keep the total at 10. Chris Brown knocked down 2 TR in C6, and Scott Daiger, Price Ford, Stuart Fain and David Baum claimed the top spot in the records at one track each. Cory drove a variety of cars this season and added 3 more track records to his resume.
We had a couple season points champions again in 2017. Jimmy repeated in I, Charlie won the Masters division in the GT4 series, and Cory lead points again, this time in GTA3 (though he did not meet the minimum points races requirement). In the GT4 Championship division, deja vu as David finished second like he did in 2016. Price Ford also took the runner-up position in K-class points.
PCA continues to be the focus of our track support program, but we also saw success at HSR events. Cory and Charlie narrowly missed out on an overall group win at the Classic 24, and Mac may have had to leave some luggage in Daytona to make room for all the trophies he took home that weekend.
Add all this to the Pirelli World Challenge Sprint-X Championship with 9 class wins, and the 2017 racing season was one that we will not forget and will likely not surpass without massive effort. The PCA schedule leaves us with no off-season to speak of, and we have been full-throttle with engine rebuilds and preparing cars for Sebring in just a few weeks time.

This Cayman was built to be a winner, and it has been. It holds the PCA H-class track record at Watkins Glen, Sebring, Rd Atlanta, and Rd America. With 14 wins and 36 Podium finishes in 3 and a half seasons of club racing, its performance is unquestionable.

No Rain Tires Needed: PCA Road Atlanta 2015
The weather at this year’s Road Atlanta PCA race was a massive departure from previous years. It was unusually cold, but the absence of torrential rain, which had become the trademark of this race weekend, was the big surprise. The Autometrics crew rolled in with 11 cars, and our results were as fantastic as the weather.
Chris Lewis chose to bump his Cayman S up to GTB1 class, and despite being a bit overweight, continually moved up the timesheets, ultimately scoring a class podium in the enduro. Jimmy ran his Cayman in H class, and was on the podium in both sprint races. He and Cory teamed up for the enduro, and despite their near class-record pace, they couldn’t quite catch the leader, who had the fortune of a caution during his pit stop. We debuted a new H class 997 build for Bob Hahn this weekend, and both he and the car ran excellent with a 2nd place finish in each of the Saturday sprints. In I class, Charles Price consistently challenged for the lead, but ultimately took home 2nd in all 3 races. The last letter-class car was Duncan McPherson, and he took a sweep of J class wins.
In the GT race group, we had similar results. In the Points Sprint Race, Autometrics drivers took 4 of the top-5 positions overall, with the last spot filled by the GTA2 car of Normand Houle, who was hauling thanks, in part, to his new Autometrics-built 4.0 liter engine. David Baum easily outclassed the GTC4 in the sprints, but fell just a little behind (factory Falken RSR driver) Bryan Sellars in the enduro. Chris Brown earned the overall Pole position for sprint race 1, and he went on to win both sprints in GTC5. Just behind him in GTC5 was Gary Pennington. Bruce McPherson spent the whole weekend on the bumper of the GTC3 leader, and Mac McGehee ran a good pace, but was sidelined with engine troubles. We just completed some massive upgrades on Cory’s RSR, but without time to sort the car, it suffered from a few component failures and sub-optimal handling. Still, it was enough to start from pole and comfortably win overall in the second sprint.

The PCA calendar traditionally starts at Sebring, and around 8 months and just short of 100 podium finishes later, our 2014 PCA season ended at Daytona.

The 2015 Season should be similar with the only notable addition being the Charlotte Motor Speedway event to close out the year. It may be too much to ask to improve on these numbers this season, but we will be rolling into Sebring with a dozen cars. Perhaps 100-podiums in a season is achievable.

Road Atlanta PCA 2013 Race Summary
The Road Atlanta PCA race has been plagued in recent years by rain, and 2013 was not the year to break that trend. After seeing clear, cold and windy conditions for Thursday’s test day and Friday practice, dry tires weren’t used much for the weekend. Most drivers opted out of the morning qualifying session, and those who did found visibility a bigger challenge than quick laps. The weather improved as Saturday progressed, and our drivers delivered solid results.
Mike Branning looked to be the favorite in SP3 class, but a transmission problem sidelined his efforts. In race group 2, Jimmy Martin avoided the wet conditions of the morning and consequently started at the back of the field for the points sprint race. Jimmy had a strong race in tricky conditions and earned a podium finish.
David Baum took advantage of the last truly dry session of the weekend on Friday’s fun race, and he had a great drive running with a pair of GTC5 cars, finishing 4th overall and easily winning GTC4.
Race group 3’s first sprint was run on a drying track. Bob Seitz risked going out on dry tires hoping the race would come to him in the closing laps, but sections of the track were too puddled to get adequate temperature. Mac McGehee and Cory Friedman chose the more conservative route and started the race on rains. Mac utilized his rain experience and took a top-5 In GTC4. Cory charged through the field and challenged a 997 RSR for the lead for a few laps before he sealed the deal with an exciting turn 1 pass. The second place RSR was subsequently docked 1 lap for blocking. The points sprint race 2 featured a track that was damp off-line, and that contributed to a turn 12 melee approaching the green flag. The 2nd and 3rd (behind Cory) qualifiers were taken out and evasive maneuvering put a number of cars onto the saturated grass resulting in four other cars retiring before the race even started. Regrettably, David was one of those four. After a lengthy black-flag cleanup, racing resumed and with his top competitors eliminated, Cory won with a huge margin of victory. Mac went on to finish 5th again in GTC4, and Bob took another podium in GTA2. Nick Ponder making his PCA debut in GTC4 pulled off an impressive pair of class wins.
For Sunday morning’s group A enduro, our CTSCC drivers Mac and David shared the ST Boxster in miserable conditions. With a goal of getting more rain experience for both drivers and testing a new defog system, the duo did a great job keeping the car pretty and ready for the Grand Am race at Atlanta next month. They also won their class in the process.
The group B enduro on Sunday afternoon also took the green flag in rainy conditions. Dr Bob was the only car who stuck around for the race. The enduro immediately followed the warm-up, where Bob punctured one of his rains. We mounted up a replacement, but not in time for him to take his qualifying position on the grid. That didn’t hurt Bob much, as he ripped through the field and found himself 3rd overall as rain stopped and puddles were drying. Bob traded fasted race lap with the leaders, and when lap times showed that the rain tires had reached their limits, we called Bob in, but luck was not on our side. The 2nd place car entered pit lane, but when Bob approached turn 10, a full course caution came out and the pits were closed. Despite the disadvantage, Bob made up many positions and took the checkers 4th overall and 2nd in class.
The weather presented many challenges over the weekend, but our drivers still brought home impressive results. The next PCA race on our calendar is the inaugural event at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on May 10-12. It will be the first opportunity for most drivers to run on a Formula 1 circuit, and we are all looking forward to it. In the mean time, we will be heading back to Road Atlanta with David Baum for the Grand Am CTSCC event in a few weeks.
